NGOs lodge police report against insult on PM, PDRM on Facebook

Three non-governmental organisations (NGOs) today lodged a police report over a Facebook page that allegedly insulted Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).

The NGOs - Pertubuhan Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah Malaysia (MJMM), Ikatan Rakyat Insan Muslim Malaysia (IRIMM) and Pertubuhan Ikatan Usahawan Kecil dan Sederhana Malaysia (Ikhlas) - lodged the report at the Dang Wangi police station in Kuala Lumpur at noon.

MJMM president Abdul Rani Kulup Abdullah said the report was lodge to enable the police to investigate and take stern action against the owner of the page.

"The individual, who runs the page under the name Conspiracy Cavalera, had even 'stripped naked' the prime minister and his Cabinet ministers in a super-imposed photograph posted on the page," he told Bernama today.

Besides, he said stern action should also be taken against an individual, known as 'Afiq Gen'ji', for allegedly insulting the police force using foul language.

"We are calling on the Home Ministry, Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission and the police to take stern action against those involved," he said.

Dang Wangi police station ACP Zainuddin Ahmad, when contacted, confirmed receiving the report. – Bernama, April 22, 2014.
