CAT given new meaning: C.O.P.Y.C.A.T.

Citizen Times says CAT has new meaning - CAT for COPYCAT!

Datuk Huan's manifesto was released LAST week. Ramkarpal's was released yesterday! You be the judge who copied who!

Huan: Ramkarpal’s manifesto mirrors mine

GEORGE TOWN: Parti Cinta Malaysia vice-president Huan Cheng Guan today alleged that his rival Ramkarpal Singh Deo’s Bukit Gelugor by-election manifesto was just a carbon copy of his own.

“After going through Ramkarpal’s manifesto, it is clear that the contents are similar to mine. I have already highlighted all issues in his manifesto.

“It’s just a carbon copy. He can’t produce one with his own ideas. He should not be a copycat,” said Huan, who came out with his manifeto, ‘Love Penang’, last week.

Ramkarpal’s six-point manifesto, themed ‘Justice Principle Brave’, which was launched on Wednesday, generally mirrored issues raised by Huan.

Huan touched on fighting crime and corruption, checking on indiscriminate sales of state-owned land, and ensuring decent and sustainable quality life for Penangites, especially in Bukit Gelugor.

He said he would seek federal funding to build affordable, upgrade public amenities, ease traffic congestion, do away with midnight parking charges and seek punishment for environment destroyers.

‘No mention of hudud’

Huan said that Ramkarpal failed to mention PAS’ hudud bill, midnight parking charges, corruption or crime, and building affordable homes, particularly low and low-medium cost units in his manifesto.

Huan, 53, and Ramkarpal, 38, are in a four-way fight in the by-election. The others are independent Nabi Bux Mohamed Nabi Abd Sathar, 63, and lawyer Abu Backer Sidek Mohamad Zan, 46.

The by-election is being held following death of incumbent Bukit Gelugor MP Karpal in an accident near Kampar, Perak on April 17.

Ramkarpal, who was travelling with his father, escaped with minor injuries while Karpal’s aide, Micheal, also perished in the accident.

The late Karpal polled 55,839 votes to score a massive majority victory of 41,778 votes against BN candidate Teh Beng Yeam, who garnered 14,061 votes in the 2013 General Election.

According to the Election Commission’s data, Bukit Gelugor has 82,431 voters comprising 61,267 or 74.33% Chinese, 11,913 or 14.46% Malays, 8,848 or 10.73% Indians, and 403 or 0.49% others.
