GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng (pix) has castigated the Barisan Nasional (BN) for their intention to send a proxy instead of a candidate to contest in the Bukit Gelugor by-election.
He questioned the sincerity of the coalition for doing so, adding that ultimately it would be the voters who will make the final decision.
He said the BN wanted the best of both worlds by being neither here nor there and questioned their political principles.
"They treat this like a game but I say to them, "Jangan main-main" (Don't play play), Lim who is also DAP secretary-general said at the Dewan Sri Pinang here where the nomination process for the constituency is taking place.
DAP is fielding Ramkarpal Singh to defend the seat after incumbent Karpal Singh died in an accident last month.
Other candidates include Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) vice president Datuk Huan Chen Guan and Independent Mohd Nabi Bux Abd Sathar.
Lim said the Opposition pact could not be complacent in the matter and will be putting their best efforts to defend the seat.
He said Pakatan Rakyat will not be treating their opponents lightly.
