Azmin Tables Deficit Budget of RM$2.42 Billion for 2015

Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali today tabled a deficit budget of RM2.42 billion for 2015 focused primarily on the wellbeing of the state's residents. The figure is the biggest ever in its history.

This is also the first time since 2008, when Pakatan Rakyat took over the reins of Malaysia's richest state, that it had tabled a deficit budget.

Under the state's 2015 budget, a massive RM1.13 billion is put aside for the state's development, while RM1.29 billion has been earmarked for operation expenditure.

In contrast, former menteri besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim tabled a budget of RM1.85 billion last year, of which 33.78% or RM625 million was for development expenditure, while RM1.225 billion or 66.2% for operating expenditure.
The huge allocation for the development budget is in line with Azmin's pledge to prioritise the needs of residents of Malaysia's richest state and improve local infrastructure. – November 24, 2014.
